Oilfield Services

Texas Shale PlaysCorsicana is the birthplace of the Texas oil industry and is located between the Barnett Shale to the northwest, the Eagle Ford Shale to the south and the Haynesville/Bossier Shale to the east.

Because of its central location to these three major oil shale plays, Corsicana and Navarro County make an ideal site to locate oilfield service operations.

  • Central Location -- located between three major oil shale plays: Barnett, Eagle Ford and Haynesville/Bossier
  • Abundant Water -- In addition to water resources owned by the City of Corsicana, Richland-Chambers Reservoir on the eastern half of Navarro County is the 3rd largest inland fresh water lake within the State of Texas
  • Transportation Infrastructure -- Corsicana offers access to a robust highway and rail network:
    • Interstate 45 passes through Corsicana and connects Corsicana with Dallas to the north and Houston to the south.
    • Interstate 35 access is 40 miles to the west of Corsicana via TX-22 at Hillsboro or 50 miles to the west via TX-31 at Waco
    • Interstate 20 access is 45 miles north of Corsicana on I-45
    • US-287 connects Corsicana with Fort Worth to the northeast and Beaumont to the southeast
    • TX-31 and TX-22 are both east-west state highways that pass through Corsicana. NOTE: Construction of the TX-31 bypass, which will pass to the south of Corsicana, will begin in early 2015 and be completed in late 2017. When completed, TX-31 will go around the City of Corsicana
    • Rail. Corsicana is serviced by both Union Pacific (UP) and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroads
  • Trained WorkforceNavarro College in Corsicana offers an extensive Petroleum Technology Program that helps prepare students for careers in the petroleum industry, where they will perform the duties of Lease Operators, Natural Gas Plant Operators, Compressor Station Operators, and Instrumentation Technicians and function as a member of oil and/or gas production team.
