Corsicana Sits Astride the Dynamic
Dallas-Fort Worth Transportation Infrastructure

Corsicana is a business-friendly community located just 50 miles southeast of downtown Dallas on Interstate 45, which connects the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with the Greater Houston metro area.

Corsicana's robust transportation infrastructure, combined with its proximity to a number of major consumer and industrial markets, makes it an excellent location for manufacturing and supply chain operations. That’s a major reason why manufacturing companies like Pactiv, Russell Stover Candies and Guardian Glass have established manufacturing facilities in Corsicana, while companies like Kohl’s, True Value Hardware, SMA and United Pipe & Steel have established distribution centers there.

Corsicana is on the outskirts of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro, enabling its businesses to take full advantage of the dynamic transportation infrastructure of the Metroplex. What makes Corsicana such a great location? Here are just a few of the most important reasons:

Proximity to markets. Corsicana is located between four major population centers: Dallas-Fort Worth, with a population of 6.7 million, is just 50 miles north on Interstate 45; Houston, with a population of 6.2 million, is 187 miles southeast on Interstate 45; San Antonio, with a population of 2.2 million, is 250 miles southwest on Interstate 35; and Austin, with a population of 1.7 million, is just 150 miles southwest of Corsicana.

Dynamic highway network. Located just 50 miles southeast of downtown Dallas on Interstate 45, which connects the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex with the Houston metro area. Corsicana is also only 40 miles from Interstate 20, a major east-west artery, as well as being less than 45 miles from Interstate 35, which connects Dallas-Fort Worth with Waco, Austin, San Antonio and Laredo on the Inter-American Highway.

In addition, US-287 is a major divided highway that connects Corsicana with Fort Worth to the northwest and Beaumont to the southeast, while TX-31 and TX-22 are east-west divided highways that connect Corsicana with Interstate 35 to the west at Waco and Hillsboro, and Athens and Tyler to the east.

Proximity to airports. Corsicana offers easy access to a wide variety of passenger, cargo and private airports. It is only about an hour’s drive from both DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field, and about 75 minutes from Fort Worth Alliance Airport. Houston’s George Bush International Airport is about 175 miles south of Corsicana on Interstate 45.

In addition, Corsicana’s municipal airport, C. David Campbell Field, offers a 5,000-foot hard surface, lighted runway and offers full service fueling to general, corporate and military aviation.

Port Access. For businesses that receive raw materials, or ship finished goods, through deep-water ports, Corsicana offers easy access to several major ports. The City is only 210 miles, by interstate highway, from the Port of Houston, the 2nd largest U.S. port by tonnage, and 230 miles from the Port of Beaumont, the 4th largest U.S. port by tonnage.  Other Panamax deep-water ports within easy reach are the Port of Corpus Christi and the Port of Galveston.

Rail & Intermodal Access. Corsicana is served by both Union Pacific (UP)and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroads, both of which pass through the city and are served by numerous dedicated rail spurs supporting local manufacturers.

In addition, Corsicana is located within an hour's drive of several major intermodal terminals, giving manufacturers located in Navarro County a convenient alternative to the additional expense of a dedicated rail spur.  UP's Dallas Intermodal Terminal is located 35 miles north of Corsicana on I-45; BNSF-Alliance Terminal is located in Haslet, just 90 miles north of Corsicana on I-45; and Kansas City Southern's KCS-Dallas Terminal is located 60 miles north of Corsicana on I-45.

Skilled manufacturing workforce. Corsicana and Navarro County are blessed with a relatively large and robust manufacturing workforce, coupled with a strong work ethic. The community is also able to draw a significant portion of its workforce from the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro area. In addition, Navarro College is located in Corsicana and provides a wide variety of customized training in partnership with local employers.

Lower operating costs. The cost of living is dramatically lower in Texas, and even more reasonable in Corsicana, which means that your workers can enjoy the same, or better, quality of life in Corsicana for less than you're paying them at your current location. Available land is plentiful , with prices substantially lower than in most of Texas and the rest of the United States.

Texas' pro-business climate. Texas, with its vibrant economy, boasts low taxes without the onerous regulations typically found in other states. Texas does not levy either corporate or individual income taxes.

Conditional land grant. A conditional land grant/loan may be available from the City of Corsicana and Navarro County to industrial expansion projects for capital investments with a minimum taxable value of $10 million and the creation of at least 50 new, full-time jobs. The land would be located in one of the two industrial parks jointly owned and operated by the city and the county.

Small town quality of life on the outskirts of the 4th largest metro area in the U.S. Corsicana is close enough to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to take advantage of its extensive resources, while being just far enough away to also enjoy lower business operating and living costs. Corsicana is a community where you can grow a business, pursue a meaningful career, and raise a family … all at the same time. Escape the high costs of living and operating a business in the big city, and experience — in Corsicana — how life and work intersect.

If your business is looking at opening a new manufacturing or distribution facility, Corsicana offers just about everything a growing business would want or need. For more information, visit their economic development website at www.CorsicanaEconDev.com
