Street Improvement Fee Accountability

General Information

On September 28, 2015 the City Council adopted an ordinance to amend Chapter 13, entitled Municipal Fees, of the City Code of Ordinances to add a Street Improvement Fee. The proposed fee was added under the Public Works section of the fee schedule. Proceeds from this fee will be used exclusively for street improvement projects.

During the budget preparation for the 2016 fiscal year, the City Council identified the need for additional funding for street improvements. The Street Improvement Fee will be assessed to each home and business in Corsicana. The schedule of fees found in Chapter 13, Municipal Fees outlines how the fee will be assessed. This funding mechanism will allow the City to collect additional street improvement dollars without raising the property tax rate. Citizens may track the revenues into the fund as well as the progress of the street improvement program below. The map shows the completed projects and the attached documents show the accounting of each dollar spent.
