New Name for the Former Texas State Home for its New Multi-Use Plan

Illustration of Proposed TYC Master Plan

The City of Corsicana is seeking input for the process of renaming the former Texas State Home.

The City recently purchased the land from the General Land office at North 45th Street and County Road 2004 for a multi-use complex to include a regional training center, burn building and fire station for Corsicana Fire Rescue, regional training center and training buildings for the Corsicana Police Department, Navarro College Police and Fire Academies, and an Emergency Operations Center. The remaining property will be marketed to developers for a multi-use area to serve as possible a senior assisted living, single-family homes, retail and loft units, and trades classrooms such as welding and culinary arts.

The complex will be completed in phases, with the Fire Safety and Emergency Operations Center facilities completed first, possibly by late 2020.

Anyone wishing to provide input on a new name for the development may do so by sending an email to with the subject line:  New Name for State Home.  All names will be considered by the City.
