The City of Corsicana complies with Federal civil rights laws and is committed to providing its programs and services without discrimination in accordance with:
 

  • Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin (including language).  
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which prohibits discrimination based on disability.  
  • Title IX of the Educations Amendments Act of 1972, which prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities. 
  • Age Discrimination Act of 1975, which prohibits discrimination based on age
  • U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulation 6 C.F.R. Part 19, which prohibits discrimination based on religion in social service programs.

Processing Complaints

Once a complaint is made to the Office of the City Manager, the City Manager or designee will provide written acknowledgement of the complaint within 10 days of receipt and will detail how the recipient will correspond with the complainant throughout the investigation.

 

The Office of the City Manager will investigate and resolve the complaint, by conducting an internal investigation of the complaint, or in complex situations may refer the complaint to an appropriate external agency for investigation, such as a local or state human rights commission. When conducting the investigation internally it will be completed within 6 months of receipt, or if referring the complaint, it will be referred within 14 days of receipt.

 

All complaints will be tracked through a spreadsheet that resides in The Office of the City Manager. The spreadsheet will include the date, complainant, type of complaint, how was it investigated and the final disposition of the complaint. 

 

Persons with disabilities and limited English proficiency can access the complaint process by contacting The City of Corsicana Office of the City Manager. The City of Corsicana:
 

  • Provides free aids and services, such as written information in other formats (large print, audio, accessible electronic formats, etc.), to communicate effectively with persons with disabilities.  
     
     
  • Provides free language services, such as qualified foreign language interpreters and information written in other languages, to ensure meaningful access to programs and activities for persons with limited English proficiency.
