[ARCHIVED] Corsicana Welcomes Marianne Follis as new Library Director

CORSICANA, TX – March 21, 2018 – Dr. Marianne Follis has been appointed as the Corsicana Public Library Director this month.


Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Follis has lived in Texas for 23 years and has been in Library service positions in Texas for 13 years in Coppell, Lewisville and Irving, and brief service in California. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1990, a Master of Library Service from Texas Woman’s University in 2004, and a Doctorate in Library and Information Studies from Texas Women’s University in 2012.


Her professional memberships include the American Library Association and Texas Library Association. For the American Library Association, she served on the John Newbery Medal Award Committee from 2010 to 2014 and served as Councilor-at-Large from 2014 to 2017. For the Texas Library Association, she served on the Children’s Round Table as Chair-Elect from 2011 to 2014, and on the Young Adult Round Table, also Chair-Elect from 2014 to 2017.


In addition to her service, she has held the title of Adjunct Professor at the University of Kentucky, Sam Houston State University and Texas Women’s University.


She will oversee a staff of four full-time, four part-time and volunteers at the Corsicana Public Library, 100 North 12th Street. A public reception will be held to meet Marianne Follis in the Nancy Roberts Meeting Room at the Library on March 26, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.; Library members and all citizens are encouraged to attend.
