CORSICANA, TEXAS—November 12, 2019—The city of Corsicana has announced the promotion of Erica Stubbs to the
position of Planning and Zoning Manager in the Department of Engineering.
Ms. Stubbs was formerly the Chief Design Technician for the city, providing
assistance in connection with the construction, investigation, development and
design of Public Works projects. She was responsible for all engineering,
drafting and design functions for the city. She managed the city map,
acted as the City Cemetery Sexton, and led the city’s efforts for a major website revision in 2018.
In her new role, Ms. Stubbs will coordinate activities surround the platting, construction permitting and the interpretation of City codes including zoning, subdivision, and building. She will supervise a variety of activity that coincide
with Code Compliance. She will manage zoning ordinances through enforcement and interpretation, processing applications for zoning changes through the Planning and Zoning Board and City Council, and processing appeals through the Board of Adjustments.
In addition, her role includes reviewing plans and specifications for compliance
with building and related codes; confers and advises contractors, owners and
architects relative to interpretation and application of building and related codes,
while monitoring and evaluating the issuance of permits and licenses.
Ms. Stubbs’ prior experience brings a wealth of knowledge and talent to the
position. She worked for ten years as an architectural lighting engineer in Dallas on both interior and exterior spaces of residences, hotels and high-profile businesses.
The majority of her portfolio consisted of five-star hospitality projects in the U.S., Mexico, Tunisia and the Middle East.
Her awards include the Award of Merit, Illuminating & Engineering Society of North
America, Dallas Chapter – 2015 for the Hilton Granite Park Hotel in Plano; and the Award of Merit from the same institution in 2010 for the Hunt Oil Headquarters in Dallas. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design from the University of North Texas, 2005. She has been a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers since 2008.
