1. How do I pay a ticket?

The court accepts cash, checks, and money orders. Visa and MasterCard payments are allowed if paying in person only. You may pay the fine and costs in person, by mail, or on-line at www.trafficpayment.com.

2. Can I take care of my husband / wife’s ticket?

No, you cannot take care of your husband / wife's ticket. Only the person who received the citation or their attorney may enter a plea.

However, once a plea has been entered and arrangements have been made, anyone may make the payments.

3. Can I request "time-served" on my tickets if I have been jailed?

Bring proof that you were jailed (booking paperwork) and the judge will consider it on a case-by-case basis.

4. Can I set up payment arrangements over the phone?

No, you cannot set up payment arrangements over the phone. Requests for payment arrangements must be made in person or by mail.

5. Can I do community service instead of paying a fine?

Yes. The judge will allow community service on a case-by-case basis, but Texas law requires the court to consider allowing a person to do community service if the person would have difficulty paying the fine.

6. Can I take care of my ticket from another city here?

No, you cannot take care of your ticket from another city in the Corsicana Municipal Court. We can only work with cases that are filed in this court.

7. May I speak with the judge?

You may speak with the judge about the circumstances of your case only after you enter a plea of guilty or no-contest.

The judge legally cannot discuss the merits of a case with you without the prosecutor being present. In that instance, your case will be set for a pretrial hearing.

8. Do I have to have an appointment to see the judge?

No, you do not have to have an appointment met see the judge. The judge is generally in the office on most days.

You may want to call to make sure the judge will be available to see you when you plan on coming in.

9. Can the court tell me if I have warrants anywhere in Texas?

No, the court cannot tell you if you have warrants anywhere in Texas. We only have access to Corsicana Municipal Court records.

10. I have been summoned for jury duty. Can I be excused?

To serve on a jury, you must meet the following qualifications:
- You must be 18 years of age or older;
- You must be a citizen of the United States, Navarro County, and the City of Corsicana;
- You must be of sound mind and good moral character;
- You must be able to read and write the English language;
- You cannot have served on a jury for six or more days:
In the last three months if the jury was in the county court or county court at law;
In the last six months if the jury was in the district court.

If you do not meet these qualifications, contact the court to be excused.

You may also claim an exemption and be excused if:
- You are 70 years of age or older;
- You have legal custody of a child younger than 12 years of age and your service on a jury would
require leaving the child without adequate supervision;
- You are a student currently enrolled in a secondary school (e.g. high school);
- You are a student currently enrolled and in actual attendance at a post-secondary school (e.g.
college or a trade school);
- You are an officer or employee of the Senate, House of Representatives, or any department,
commission, board, office, or other agency in the legislative branch of the State of Texas’
government;
- You are the primary caretaker of a person who is unable to care for himself or herself (this
exemption does not apply to persons caring for others in a professional capacity, e.g., as a
nurse);
- You are a member of the United States Military Forces serving on active duty and deployed to a
location away from your home station and out of your county of residence.

If you qualify to claim an exemption, contact the court to be excused.

All other persons need to appear for jury duty. Unfortunately, the court cannot allow other absences without good cause. If more persons appear for jury duty than are needed, the judge will excuse excess persons as appropriate, and as soon as possible.”
